Message from the President – April 2022
Dear members and friends,
The arrival of Easter heralds the onset of spring. It also marks the coming of our virtual conference, which will take place from April 27 to 30 and on May 3.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE, APRIL 27-30 and MAY 3
I encourage you to register in great numbers and take advantage of all the seminars and workshops that will encourage and strengthen you for the final stretch of your children’s school year.
Wednesday evening, April 27th, is an open house for anyone who wants to learn more about home schooling, so invite a friend and let’s all be there in full force!
Registration for April 28-30 and May 3 is open to all. Members benefit from a discount and have access to a collection of videos that they can watch at their convenience! Take advantage of this opportunity to
renew your membership, if necessary, just like the nearly 800 other member families. Simply go to the home page of our website and follow the instructions. Have a great conference!
EXAMINATIONS and School Service Centres and School Boards – What’s in the best interest of the child?
The last few weeks have brought back to the forefront the requirement to take ministerial exams in grade 4 (for school service centres only), grade 6, secondary 2, secondary 4, and secondary 5. Unfortunately, it appears that many families have not received the support and guidance promised in the regulations. It is likely that the majority of service centres and school boards did not prepare themselves adequately for the work of preparing children: access to documents, access to premises, lack of timely preparation, etc. The interests of the child are not always taken into account due to a lack of planning by service centres and school boards. There is increasing evidence that the response time to parents’ questions and requests, particularly from the service centres, has gone beyond what is reasonable and it takes several weeks or even months to get a follow-up. There is currently a movement of several hundred parents who have already written to the Protecteur du citoyen (the Quebec Ombudsman). If you are in this situation, don’t hesitate to add your voice. You could also send a carbon copy to the DEM, the ministry, and even your MP. Just state the facts and the harm it is doing to you. This could be useful to you at the end of this first year of having to take these exams.
GRADUATION CEREMONY 2022
I am making a final appeal to you to inform us of the future 2022 graduates. Please let us know if you are interested in participating by emailing us at graduation@acpeq.org.
CLOSING REMARKS
There is an expression that says, ‘no one is bound to do the impossible.’ But we know that nothing is impossible for our God, our heavenly Father. So let us trust in Him so that in any situation in which we feel powerless, He, by His power, will do the impossible for us. We only have to think of the many miracles performed among the Jewish people, by Jesus and even by the apostles. Along with the miracle of Faith, of the new birth, we can add the miracle of the Resurrection of Jesus which gives us eternal life. Let us celebrate this with our families during the Easter holiday.
For nothing will be impossible with God.” Luke 1:37 (ESV)
Your friend in Jesus,
